GO RED
Local Chef and Newman's Own Wines Contribute to Enticing Menu
Palm Desert, CA (January 27, 2010) - The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women Luncheon will demonstrate culinary creativity and send a message that eating heart healthy means moderation not elimination.
The upcoming Go Red For Women luncheon being held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at The Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa features a three-course menu created by Executive Chef, Joel Delmond. Delmond, a James Beard honoree, worked with the American Heart Association to create a menu that would demonstrate that heart-healthy cuisine can be scrumptious and easily woven into our daily diet. "While my training and experience would suggest cream and butter to create the perfect taste, adjusting our recipes with ingredients lower in full fat content can result in a delicious meal without compromising taste" Delmond states. "I believe the ladies in red will have a culinary experience that they will truly enjoy."
To show support of the cause and round out the menu, Newman's Own Wines has chosen to participate by donating the wine for the event. "It's about enjoying the culinary experience, and how better to complete it than with the complement of wine?" notes Wendy Nyberg, Director of Marketing for Newman's Own Wines. "We are delighted to participate in this important event for the second year and toast the Go Red For Women effort," Nyberg concludes.
Choose to live. Our Hearts, Our Choice is the message of this year's event to emphasize that changes in lifestyle choices can have a significant impact on heart disease and related conditions such as stroke. The luncheon will also demonstrate that moderation is not elimination.
